There are three Trophies to be won.
Members compete annually for the Clifford Morrow Cup,
given for the best original effect or an adaptation of an old effect.
This competition dates back to 1930 & is judged by a guest magician.
The Harry Kaye Cup is for the best eight minute act,
originally judged by two lay members of the public & one magician, but more recently by four members of the public.
It was originally intended to be an annual competition,
first held in December 1939, but the war prevented it from being held again until 1948.
The main reason was finding a venue to perform due to the war.
The third competition is the Close-up Competition.
It is held annually, and judged by all members present.
It was first held in 1975. |
